Artist Statement

It is important for me to keep growing as a painter, to explore new techniques and directions. There is an energy that pushes forward towards spontaneity. This energy has a freshness, innocence and challenges repetition. Picasso said he spent his whole life learning how to paint like a child. Taking advantage of some knowledge, being honest, insightful, using color and form to express an idea is a worthwhile pursuit. It is a delicate balance which feels like the right mysterious story can be told. I believe this is forward thinking and a good journey. While teaching, it is always inspiring to learn from the artsy folks I hang with. Inspiration and lessons are everywhere.
